This is really our on a limb here, but I went to a bluegrass festival a while back and they had a lot of contests. One was for the “bluegrass banjo” and one was for the “old-time banjo.”
What is the difference?

What is the best way to learn the rhythm to playing bluegrass banjo?
I’m trying to teach myself bluegrass banjo and although I’m making good progress one problem I seem to have is understanding how to play the bluegrass rhythm. I’m using tabs so i play the notes but because the tabs don’t tell you the rhythm to the song it sounds close to it but not right. [...]
